Course Overview
Accuracy of expression is one of the key challenges in language learning. The acquisition of language and the application of newly acquired terms is more likely to last when accompanied by visual prompts that reinforce their usage. As part of the narrative writing course, students analyse the visual imagery and symbolism in the game, encouraging the adoption of figurative expressions.
The game centres on the theme of relationships; however, secondary themes including parent-child relationships, racial inclusivity and personal happiness give additional context and relevance to the story. Students will vividly describe scenarios that convey complex emotions, learning to associate certain adjectival descriptions with emotional states. They describe colour in connection with feelings, learn adverbial phrases, include temporal markers to develop wider descriptions, extract connotations from words, and compose detailed descriptive pieces.
The writing students complete eventually becomes a written composition to accompany the visual experience of the game.
